List 5 Horror Stories : 5. The Lavender Wraith

Its nearing twilight and a voyaging sales representative is driving along an old, two-path roadway south of here, searching for a shabby motel to continue through to the end. Drawing closer a convergence, he sees a young lady in a lavender outfit remaining to the side of the rode. He stops and inquires as to whether she needs a ride.

The young lady is extremely appreciative and lets him know she's been deserted by her date for the senior prom and simply needs to go home.

It's a cold night, so the sales representative lets her wear his sweater.

He drives her to the address she has given him, drops her off at the front entryway of the house, and heads pull out onto the expressway. A brief time later, recalling his sweater, he comes back to the house and rings the ringer. The young lady's mom answers and mournfully advises the driver that her little girl was murdered in a car crash - at the very place where he'd lifted the specter up - precisely one year prior, on the night of her senior prom.

He advances toward the memorial park and discovers her grave; his sweater is lying on it, conveniently collapsed.
