Ford HQ emptied after basement fire

DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. cleared its reality home office in Dearborn toward the beginning of today after a fire began in the cellar.

A Ford representative said a fire began in an electrical substation underneath the 12-story building. Firefighters contained the blazes after the building's electrical power was stopped, the representative said in an upgrade at 10:40 a.m. Eastern.

No wounds were accounted for. Police were on the scene to guarantee worker wellbeing.

The building, referred to locally as the "Glass House," opened in 1956. It is planned for significant remodels starting in 2021.
